WITH DEBUT TOOTH&NAIL RELEASE, JULY 8TH

Seattle, WA…July 1, 2008…Next week Tooth&Nail Records’ newcomers, Capital Lights, will release their debut project, This Is An Outrage. The Tulsa-based power pop/rock foursome created a project with award-winning producer Aaron Sprinkle (Pedro the Lion, Anberlin, The Almost) that is a perfect blend of alternative pop to assertive modern rock.

Capital Lights is on the road to being one of the new up-and-coming bands of 2008, but that hasn’t come without hard work and dedication from the Oklahoma natives. Starting out as a locally acclaimed scremo act named afterEIGHT, the band quickly realized the importance of focusing on music they enjoyed and being individual.tooth-and-nail Capital Lights This Is An Outrage Tooth and Nail Debut July 8th

“The main thing we’ve learned personally is to really focus the writing on what you like rather than trying to be like all the other bands around,” says front man Bryson Phillips. “In Capital Lights, we started writing on an acoustic guitar without trying to plug into any particular formula, just being ourselves and playing 100 percent exactly what we wanted.”

The newly focused Capital Lights began attracting attention of managers, booking agents and labels, but eventually landing with Tooth&Nail Records and producer Aaron Sprinkle.  Capital Lights recorded the forthcoming debut in a Seattle studio stationed within the illustrious Capitol Hill neighborhood (hence its slightly tweaked moniker). The resulting dozen tracks throughout This Is An Outrage spans the palette of meaningful, whimsical and satirical.

Thus far fans old and new alike have been flocking to the material, thanks to extensive touring across colleges, churches and clubs, split between headlining shows and opening slots for Hawk Nelson and Run Kid Run. No matter what the format, Capital Lights’ fan base continues to expand like lightning, as evidenced by feverish MySpace activity, downloads and CD sales at shows. Media are already grabbing hold of this new “it” band:

“It only took one listen to fall in love with this band from Tulsa, Oklahoma.”
-HM Magazine

“In the end, Capital Lights is one to hear. They’re a good band, with great potential. If you’re a fan of pop-punk definitely check out this fun and energetic band! If they continue to build on their sound, they’ll surely become a household name.”

Capital Lights also has a packed fall touring schedule in the works as they’ll be a part of the first Creation Festival: The Tour with Kutless, Thousand Foot Krutch, Pillar, KJ-52, Fireflight, Worth Dying For, RunKidRun and Esterlyn.  For tour dates and more information, visit: http://www.creationfesttour.com/index.html .
