Okay, so its kind of a cheesy headline, but it’s the truth. For over 20 years, the newsboys have been making music and touring from one end of the earth and back again. Just look at the touring schedule and you will see what I mean- 3/16/08 playing in Indiana, a few days later four shows across Australia, and then its back to the US for a show in Pittsburgh, PA. In attendance at the Pittsburgh show, they seemed no worse for the wear!

They just keep getting stronger. Grammy nominations. Dove Awards. Music award after award. #1 hits, #1 albums. I could dedicate a whole page to the list of accolades. All this while touring, running a record label and putting out new music like the release of GO, GO Remixed and Greatest Hits and the upcoming GO Livetour_image_lg newsboys | GO Live - Touring, Staying Strong Its Something Beautiful

From start to finish the concert was 3 hours of energy packed excitement with the opening lineup of Article One, NEWWORLDSON and Rush of Fools, the crowd was pumped and at their feet.

The newsboys took the stage with one of their first hits, “Shine” from 1994’s Going Public as the crowd went wild. They moved through a mix of past and future classics like He Reigns, Entertaining Angels, Blessed be Your name, Stay Strong, The Mission and always the crowd favorite Breakfast where from the great seats we watched Paul Colman trying valiantly to catch Cap’n Crunch in his mouth while walking the stage playing the guitar.

One of the great highlights of the evening for me was to hear singer Peter Furler speak. If you only know the newsboys through their music, it is a moving experience to be at a live show that you have to witness for yourself. His dynamic stage presence comes through even stronger when he speaks. In a packed auditorium the Word reached each and every one as if he was having a one on one conversation with all of us and I personally would like to thank him for that moment.

So what is it about the newsboys that keeps them so strong and so relevant? During the opening song I watched kids around me who were too young to know when “Shine” was released and some who were still too young when it was included on a greatest hits album, singing along with every word. Perhaps it is their willingness to challenge themselves and this non-stop touring that inspires them. Also, the fact that after all these years they still have fun going out there and sharing this ministry of love and grace. They love their job and they want to share this love with their audience.

Whatever the reason, the newsboys GO Tour is a great experience from the first moment until the lights go up.
