LifeShare
For those new to this, LifeShare, is a 7 day online challenge for all of us to extend the love and compassion of Jesus to our friends, followers and online communities. It will be live streaming through the link to LifeChurch.tv video player on the top right of this page.
Recently, in LifeShare online sessions, people have asked how to place the player like we did here on Lightvox to their own blogs hosted on wordpress.com or blogger.com.
Since both those hosted blogging platforms have restrictions on the use of scripts, you need to wrap the script in an approved widget before you can use it.
One way of getting around this is the use of a service called VODPOD. Vodpod allows you to share videos with your friends and readers through a VODPOD player.
The first step is launching the LifeShare mogulus player using the link on the top right of this page. Go ahead I will wait…… OK ready for step two?
Right under the main video window is the embed button if you click this button you will see a “Copy Myspace embed tag to clipboard”. The Myspace code is a bit more friendly for use in 3rd party applications. Click that button and the code you need will be placed on your clipboard for later use.
Now we move on….
Go to VODPOD.com and create an account if you don’t have one already.
Next you can start a new pod if you already have one or create a pod if you just signed up.
At the top of the VODPOD page you see ADD Videos with two tabs. Click the paste embed code tab.
Place your mouse in the box that appears and hit (Command+V or CTRL+V depending on Mac or PC) and the code will be copied from your clipboard to the box.
Click preview to see the video and to configure options.
At a minimum fill out the Title and the tag field below it.
The Title can be anything you want this will appear above the video on your blog.
For organization sake or if you already have other videos in VODPOD tag it with LifeShare.
Click the Save button.
After you get confirmation that the video was added to your collection, find the tab “Post to Blog”
On that page you will find buttons referring to the most popular blog hosting platforms where you can get specific instructions on adding this video to your own page.
How else can I get involved?
