MOBILE, Alabama (April 7, 2008) - Integrity Music worship artist Brian Doerksen won a 2008 Juno Award on Sunday, April 6 for his latest project, Holy God. The album was honored as “Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album” of the year by the Juno Awards, which are sponsored by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and are similar to the GRAMMY Awards.
Doerksen, a native and resident of British Columbia, is also a previous winner of Canada’s Covenant Awards and SHAI Awards and is a recipient of the Gospel Music Association’s “International Award.” This year, he competed in the Juno category with fellow nominees Thousand Foot Krutch, Relient K, Amanda Falk and Newworldson.
Holy God marks Doerksen’s first studio album in a recording history that includes the critically-acclaimed projects Brian Doerksen - Live in Europe and You Shine and the classic worship songs “Come Now Is The Time to Worship” and “Hallelujah (Your Love Is Amazing).”
For Holy God, Doerksen and producer Philip Janz continued a tradition of combining timeless and contemporary elements including world music instruments and a classical choir. The album also featured guest appearances from Christine Dente (Out of the Grey), Joseph Williams (of the legendary band TOTO) and native Hawaiian artist David Kahiapo.
